PricesAPI vs alternatives
API requests, seller offers, price history and billing. See what each service returns, what your app still needs to build, and which costs belong in the comparison.
Use PricesAPI data to build price comparisons and history views. Coverage varies by product and market; your application handles analysis and pricing decisions.
Building a price tracker? Known PricesAPI or catalog IDs go directly to Snapshot (public Beta) or History (public Beta) with an explicit market. Free Catalog text search finds candidate products. Name matches do not confirm physical variants, and Catalog summaries do not prove History availability.
What happens if a response is lost? Compare Keepa's history reads with SerpApi's saved search results, then check how to resume PricesAPI History. A retry, a continuation and a saved-result read can have different costs.
When a monitoring suite fits better
Consider a configured monitoring suite if your team needs dashboards and recurring reports. PricesAPI fits when your app will own the analysis and reporting workflow.
Price2Spy connects products in your account to tracked URLs and their measurements. Its API schema includes shelf-price and promotion fields. Additional capture needs configuration; verify which fields are populated for your sites and what they mean.
Prisync documents barcode-based onboarding and configured bulk/per-piece price conversion. Its public API documentation does not specify whether returned prices already include that conversion. Confirm this before converting again.
Before comparing offers, verify the exact model, pack size and member or promotion eligibility. A previous price is not a recommended retail price (RRP): supply a dated, sourced RRP for the same pack, and label the baseline used for each percentage.
Collection and report delivery are separate. PricesAPI Schedules (public Beta) refresh queries; your app reads results and handles thresholds, recipients and report delivery. See the History reporting guide for comparison checks, baseline calculations and missing-data limits.
Workflow documentation checked 9 October 2026; vendor APIs not exercised.
